A somber evocative drama about ties that bind, Defining Maggie features superb performances by Molly Hagan (Election) as Maggie and Todd Kimsey(The Perfect Storm) as Tom, a seemingly happy couple who must confront the ghosts of the past in the form of Maggie’s brother Buddy (Jeff Kober).

Buddy is an alcoholic haunted by his past mistakes and unable to create a new life for himself. When he appears on Maggie’s doorstep after five years of silence, Maggie finds her carefully constructed world falling apart. Haunted by their troubled childhood, the two seem to bring out the worst in each other. Though she tries carefully to mask her discomposure by keeping an audio journal and remaining playful with Tom, Buddy’s shadowy presence slowly drives a wedge between the loving couple. As Tom tries valiantly to protect his wife from his brother’s drunken rages, Maggie’s panic attacks escalate and she desperately feels her control slipping away. For little does Tom know what lies beneath could shatter even the strongest love.
